WhatApp, a Stanford-initiated site that reviewed the privacy, security and openness of the popular Web services or mobile apps has rated Facebook’s privacy significantly lower than that of other platforms such as Twitter and iPhone.
As shown in the below picture, Facebook only received 2 points out of 5 in three categories of privacy, security and openness. In contrary, Twitter and iPhone have a relatively better scores. Both score 3 points out of 5 in terms of privacy and security. Other points of interest include the expert review and comment by Ryan Calo, a Residential Fellow at Stanford Center for Internet and Society on the WhatApp’s Facebook page.
Adam Katz is 100% correct about what Facebook changed and I am updating my review, with apologies, as a result.

Specifically, to rate apps on WhatApp, experts answer a few questions like “To what extent can a user understand what information this application collects and how it is used?” or “To what extent are you aware of potential security vulnerabilities introduced by using or installing this application?” and etc.
In overall, the comments and reviews accompanied on the page are underscore how flawed the Facebook app settings from a privacy perspective. It should become a signal which Facebook need to further tweak its privacy options so as to give its users more control over their Facebook applications and websites use.
